Dad: "Where's Ben?"
Mum: "He's at diving....eh no no skiving.."
Well she meant 'skydiving', but it was not that either.
Windsurfing, he was.
Skiving he does a lot.
I'm hoping he doesn't visit this anytime soon. Two blog posts in a row about him might be slightly detrimental to his indomitable reputation, as what, I don't know. Haha.

An arty mushroom
An ad by "Americans for the Arts" on the Naruto Chuushin website reads,
"When kids think Puccini is a kind of mushroom,
Clearly there isn't enough art in our schools"
So I asked my brother if he knew what Puccini was, and he replied,
"It's a drink/wine...err no it's a car"
I suppose that says that we don't have much of the arts in Singapore schools either.
Or maybe it's just my brother. After all, the Madama Butterfly leaflet is still stuck on my door with Puccini's name right in the middle of the White Ghastly Face with the Bleeding Eye.

all things new
Decided to upgrade to a bland skin because I had enough of looking at the pseudo angel kid, it was too pink, too small, too everything undesirable and sickly. Even the snot green on this skin looks better.

"the static of unelaborated thought"
Someone says, "update your blog!"
but what is there to write about when your life is a blur of events that escapes the mind's camera due to its slow shutter speed?
madame butterfly. cello section leader resigned. act3 (theatrics!) show at etonhouse broadrick road, sans air, what I used to think was a free and very public good. learned the importance of "mind over matter". with the company for company at east coast park drinking coconut juice and trying to get mind away from the heat. trips to the hospital to a quiet room a muttering patient and sneezing nurses. (in particular a PRC nurse who would rather speak in English than Her Native Tongue). weeks of missing people who went missing long before I discovered them to be so. days of meeting persons whom I already miss.
( If only life could be sweetly capsuled into captions like those that roll across the edge of your screen Channel NewsAsia style. )
Random events when pieced together do not constitute a life.
"What is life?"
...
"Life is a short period of time in which you are alive."
"Is that all?"
"Yes...that is all. Thank God, that is all; even that is unendurable"
-American Pastoral by Philip Roth
On a less depressive note,
Noticed: The sign for "The Ang Mo Kio FSC" along Upper Thomson is missing an 'I'. I see they take the spirit of selflessness quite literally.
